AS ELEPHANTS ARE
Realising that there was no one else like-minded on the course they recruited an old school friend each in Joe (guitar) and Rob (drums) to complete the recording line up. Collectively inspired by the success of bands like Bombay Bicycle Club and The Maccabees, all four had been music obsessives from a young age but this was the first time they had ever played music with other people who felt the same way.
Released on August 26th, 2012, their first single ‘War Cry’ sparked off exhilarated reactions from bloggers and new music fans across England, America and mainland Europe. “Oceanic” and “epic”, “atmospheric” and “explosive” yet “soothing”… are just some of the words that have been used to describe a sound that can more than anything be described as ‘unique’.
“Great song, the more you hear that the more you love it” (Gary Crowley, BBC London 94.9, UK)
“An indie pop song whose ambitions are epic and whose scope is grand” (The Blue Walrus, UK)
“Completely flooding the ear with waves of oceanic guitars, soothing vocals, drums and lots of airy synths” (Popstache, US)
“”War Cry” is an atmospheric anthem that will get you through the toughest of days” (Jonk Music, US)
As Elephants Are have now finished their anticipated new single which will be officially released on March 18th via Once Upon A Time Recordings. The record’s two tracks are now available to stream.
